Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 11, 2026

The short version: you never create an account, everything you learn stays on your phone, the app is free and paid for by ads, and we run no servers that store your data.

Who we are #

VocabLearn is developed and operated by Bilgehan Kaplan ("we", "us"), an independent developer. For anything in this policy, contact bilgekaplan394@gmail.com. We aim to reply within 48 hours.

1. Summary #

You never create an account. Everything you learn stays on your phone. The app is free and paid for by ads. We run no servers that store your data.

2. Data we collect ourselves #

None. VocabLearn asks for no name, no email address, no phone number and no password. There is no account and no login. We operate no backend of our own and receive no personal data about you. The app does, however, use Google services (advertising, analytics and crash reporting) that process some device data on Google's side; this is described in section 5.

3. Data stored on your device only #

The words you add, which words you have learned, your level progress, daily goal, streak, study statistics, app settings, your chosen native and learning languages, and any levels you have unlocked. This is stored in a local database and in the app's own preferences. It is never uploaded, and it never leaves your phone.

4. Word content is bundled, not downloaded #

All 3,600 words and their translations ship inside the app package. The app never contacts a server to fetch word lists. Learning works completely offline.

5. Third-party services #

These Google services are involved:

For more on how Google handles data, see Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

6. Advertising #

Two kinds of ads appear:

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before any personalized ad is shown. You can review or change your choice at any time from the app's settings, under "Ad privacy options". You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (on recent Android versions: Settings → Privacy → Ads).

8. Permissions #

The app requests only these:

The app requests no location permission, no camera, no microphone, no contacts and no access to your files.

9. Notifications #

Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No push server is involved and no message is sent over the internet. You can turn them off at any time in the app's settings.

10. Pronunciation #

Words are spoken by your device's own text-to-speech engine. No audio is downloaded and no text is sent anywhere for pronunciation.

11. Children's privacy #

VocabLearn is intended for users aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app shows ads and uses Google's analytics and crash-reporting services, Google may process device identifiers as described in section 5.

12. Deleting your data #

Since nothing is stored on our side, there is no account to close. Uninstalling the app removes everything. You can also clear it without uninstalling: Settings → Apps → VocabLearn → Storage → Clear data. This permanently erases your words, progress and settings.

13. Your rights #

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability under the GDPR. Because we hold no personal data about you, most of these are satisfied by the steps in section 12. For data processed by Google as an independent controller, please use Google's own privacy controls. You may contact us with any question at the email address above.

14. Security #

Your data lives on your device, so its safety depends on your device. We recommend using a screen lock and keeping Android up to date.

15. Changes #

We may update this policy. Significant changes ship with a new app version and the effective date above changes accordingly.
